Dr Serge Tisseron: Using screens appropriately
As part of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth’s “Screen-Life Balance” campaign, Serge Tisseron, Doctor of Psychology and psychiatrist, was invited to discuss the effects of screen use on the development of children and adolescents.

The following topics were examined from a critical perspective:
Why is it important to consider the child’s age, the type of media and the content being accessed?
How can parents, educators and teachers balance screen time with interactive activities that support children’s development?
What positive and negative effects do digital media have on adolescents?
What role do video games play in the cognitive and social development of children and adolescents?
How can young people develop the critical-thinking skills they need to navigate the Internet safely?
What are the risks associated with parents’ excessive smartphone use, and how does it affect their relationship with their children?
How can public spaces support a balanced lifestyle for children and adolescents?
