“Screen-Life Balance”: Screen use in the family
The use of screens and digital devices is an everyday concern for families. Digital devices offer a window to the world and make daily life easier. However, when used without proper supervision or consideration, they can also expose children to risks and negatively affect their development.

The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth supports you in finding the right balance between the digital and real worlds for your child.
Our children learn a great deal by observing and imitating the behaviour of those around them.
Let’s try to:
reduce screen use when spending time with the family, for example during meals;
improve our digital device habits;
use parental control systems;
take part in the information workshops offered by Eltereforum via this link.
The “Sécher.digital” campaign by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth provides age-appropriate screen-time recommendations for every stage of your child’s development:
0 to 3 years: avoid all screen time
3 to 6 years: select suitable content
6 to 9 years: supervise the use of digital devices
9 to 12 years: avoid smartphones
12 to 15 years: too early for social media!
From age 15: remain vigilant
Further recommendations on screen use in the family can be found in the “Screen-Life Balance” letter to parents, available via this link.
